Giannis Debuts for Miami vs. LaMelo's Wolves: What It Means for Your Roster
Antetokounmpo opens his Heat tenure with a 46.5 PRA line as LaMelo Ball reshapes Minnesota's backcourt. Here's the fantasy read on both.

Down 10.8 FPTS over his last five, but LaMelo's passing is a floor-raiser.
- Giannis: 27.6/9.8/5.4 on 62.4% FG in 36 games (2025-26)
- Edwards: team-record 28.8 PPG, 44.1 FPTS/G last season
- LaMelo hit 272 threes in 72 games (2025-26)
- Adebayo: 20.1/10/3.2, 41 FPTS/G in 73 games (2025-26)
- DiVincenzo out all season after playoff Achilles tear
Giannis Antetokounmpo makes his Miami debut Wednesday at 7:30 ET against LaMelo Ball's reshuffled Timberwolves, and his first Heat box score carries a sportsbook over/under of 46.5 points-plus-rebounds-plus-assists. That's a big number for a guy who played a career-low 36 games last season while putting up 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists on a career-best 62.4% shooting.
The two-time MVP arrived in a blockbuster that sent Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel'el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis and a pile of picks to Milwaukee, with Bobby Portis Jr. joining Giannis in South Beach. Miami is a slim 1.5-point favorite, and the betting market is skeptical of the bigger picture — no team in the league is drawing more Under money on its win total (46.5) than the Heat.
The skepticism isn't about talent. It's about availability. Giannis has cleared 70 games just once in seven seasons, and last year's numbers — still excellent — were his lowest across the board since at least 2017-18. For fantasy managers, that's the whole ballgame: an elite per-game producer whose games-played history keeps him out of the truly safe early-round tier.
The Minnesota Angle
The Wolves answered by swinging their own deal, landing Ball for picks while moving Naz Reid and Julius Randle. That thins the frontcourt but gives Minnesota an electric backcourt of Ball, Anthony Edwards and Ayo Dosunmu. The early signs on Ball are intriguing — after years as a volume gunner in Charlotte, he took just 27 shots and dished 23 assists across four preseason games.
Edwards is the roster centerpiece and the fantasy prize here. He posted a team-record 28.8 points per game last season (2025-26) and ranked as our No. 15 overall player at 44.1 fantasy points per game. He's slumped lately, down 10.8 fantasy points over his last five games versus his season average, but a pass-first Ball feeding him is exactly the kind of context that smooths out those dips.
On the Miami side, keep an eye on Bam Adebayo, who practiced Monday and will play through a groin issue. He's our No. 4 center (26th overall) after averaging 20.1 points, 10 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 73 games (41 fantasy points per game last season). Portis, meanwhile, slides to a bench role in Miami — he's only our No. 140 overall player, though he's trending up 6.9 fantasy points over his last five.
Bottom line: Edwards is a buy-low this week if a manager in your league is nervous about his cold stretch — the LaMelo pairing raises his floor, not lowers it. Hold Giannis and ride the ceiling, but don't pretend the injury risk isn't real. Adebayo is a confident start despite the groin, and Portis stays a stash-only name until his role clears up.
