Joel Embiid Rejects 'Sacrifice' Talk as 76ers' Four-Star Core Takes Shape
Embiid says nobody needs a back seat in Philly's new superteam. But fantasy managers juggling four alphas should read the fine print.

Only 38 games in 2025-26, but a #2 center ceiling when healthy.
- Embiid: 44.5 FPTS/G in 38 games (2025-26), our #2 C
- Jaylen Brown: 45.2 FPTS/G in 71 games (2025-26), #5 G
- Hukporti out for season with Achilles tear
- Tacko Fall converted to two-way deal Saturday
- Bona (foot sprain) is lone reserve center on roster
Philadelphia has stacked the deck. The 76ers added Jaylen Brown and LeBron James this offseason to pair with Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid, giving Nick Nurse a starting lineup with four All-Stars. And after Friday's preseason finale, Embiid made it clear he isn't interested in the usual superteam script where somebody shrinks to make it work.
Embiid said he's against the whole idea of sacrificing, framing it instead as everyone doing what they do best while the group supports them. That's a nice sentiment, but the math is less forgiving. Brown posted 45.2 fantasy points per game across 71 games last season (2025-26), our #5 guard, while Embiid averaged 44.5 in just 38 games (2025-26) as our #2 center. Two apex scorers, one ball, forty-eight minutes.
The Usage Crunch Is Real
When all four stars share the floor, somebody's touches go down — full stop. James taking a minimum to sign in Philly reads as a willingness to defer, and Brown already knows how to win a title playing off another star. The crunch-time hierarchy is where the give-and-take actually bites, and Nurse's biggest job this year is ego management, not Xs and Os.
For fantasy purposes, that means volatility. Embiid's per-minute production isn't the concern; his availability is, and so is a lineup where attempts get sprayed across four mouths to feed. Expect the box scores to swing night to night depending on matchup and who's got the hot hand.
The Center Shortage Behind Him
The bigger roster story is depth behind Embiid. Ariel Hukporti tore his Achilles and is out for the season, leaving Adem Bona — our #306 overall, #50 at center, with 14.7 fantasy points per game in 71 games last season (2025-26) — as the only reserve five, and he's missed the preseason with a foot sprain. Philly's first-apron hard cap blocked a full-season minimum signing, so they converted 7-foot-6 Tacko Fall to a two-way deal Saturday as a stopgap. Fall hasn't played in the NBA since 2021-22 and owns just 37 career games.
Fantasy takeaway: Embiid is a BUY LOW if a nervous manager is dangling him over the 38-game sample and the crowded usage picture — his ceiling as our #2 center is untouchable when he suits up. Brown holds all his value as a top-five guard; don't overthink the 'who sacrifices' noise there. Bona is a deep-league handcuff only, worth a speculative stash if Embiid misses time, while Tacko Fall is strictly a watch-list name until he's actually cleared and playing rotation minutes.
