Embiid Says the Knee Is Fixed — What It Means for His Fantasy Value
Embiid played just 38 games last season (2025-26) but posted 44.5 fantasy points per game. Now he says his knee is finally a non-issue heading into 2026-27.

Elite per-game numbers at a bargain draft cost if the health talk holds.
- 26.9 pts, 7.7 reb, 3.9 ast in 38 games (2025-26)
- 44.5 fantasy pts/game last season, our #2 center
- Just 96 regular-season games over the last 3 years
- Career-high 4.2 threes/game at 33.3% (2025-26)
- Last 5 games: +5.1 fantasy pts vs season average
Joel Embiid played 38 games last season (2025-26) and still put up 26.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists a night — good for 44.5 fantasy points per game and the No. 2 spot at center in our rankings. The catch is right there in the games column. Over the past three seasons combined, Embiid has managed just 96 regular-season appearances, and that's the number that keeps landing him at draft-value discounts.
Now 32, Embiid is entering a Sixers season where he's no longer the sun everyone else orbits. Philadelphia's projected starting five now includes All-Stars LeBron James, Jaylen Brown and Tyrese Maxey, plus last year's Rising Stars MVP in Edgecombe. But the encouraging part for fantasy managers isn't the supporting cast — it's what Embiid said about his body at his exit interview in May.
He essentially declared the knee saga over. Embiid said he came into last year unsure whether he'd even play, and now describes himself as not worried about the joint at all, even after taking contact and having players fall on him. He credited the group with finding a fix that puts him in a better spot to play more games. He also admitted he'd thought he was finished — which makes the current optimism land harder than the usual training-camp noise.
The Health Trail
The front office is singing the same tune. Team president Mike Gansey said Embiid told him he wanted to play a lot of games and be All-NBA Joel again, and that the big man has lost weight and been grinding in the gym all summer. Talk is cheap in September, but Embiid's second-round elimination pattern — six of them, plus two first-round exits across 66 playoff games — is a body story, not a talent one. He was excellent in a seven-game first-round win over Boston last year before physical problems resurfaced in a Round 2 sweep by the Knicks.
The Fantasy Math
On a per-game basis, Embiid is a top-15 overall producer when he's upright, and his last five games of 2025-26 came in at +5.1 fantasy points above his season average — a healthy way to close out. The offensive fit is easy to picture: post-ups, mid-range work and two-man actions with Maxey (48.8 FPTS/G last season) and Brown (45.2). The soft spots are defense and rebounding, where the numbers say he's declining, and a three-point shot that dipped to 33.3% after peaking at 38.8% in 2023-24.
The verdict: treat Embiid as a buy-low target on draft day. You're paying a discount because of the 38-game reality, but the per-game ceiling is a top-two center, and the health signals — from Embiid and the front office — are the most positive in years. Draft him as your No. 2 big with a rock-solid handcuff plan, then let the schedule tell you whether to lean in harder by December.
