Knicks Eye Eubanks and Konchar for Final Roster Spots
New York is circling two veteran free agents with camp near, but a thin center rotation behind Karl-Anthony Towns is the real fantasy story.

The Knicks are shopping in the bargain bin as camp closes in, and two names have surfaced: forward-center Drew Eubanks and guard-forward John Konchar. Per an SNY report Thursday, both veterans are on New York's radar for its final roster spots. Eubanks averaged 5.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in 13.1 minutes across just 42 appearances last season (2025-26), his year in Sacramento cut short in March by surgery to repair a UCL tear in his left thumb.
Konchar, a seven-year vet, hit the market after Minnesota traded for him and then waived and stretched him last week. He put up 4.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 steals across 56 games with Memphis and Utah in 2025-26. That's the profile — rebounder, defender, connector, occasional perimeter shooter. Neither guy moves the needle in a box score, but both fill specific needs.
Why Eubanks Makes Sense
The center depth chart in New York is thin and getting thinner. Karl-Anthony Towns starts, and after the departures of Mitchell Robinson and Ariel Hukporti, 32-year-old Andre Drummond is the only true backup. Eubanks, a 6-foot-10 body, would slot into a third-center competition — the kind of non-guaranteed, camp-battle situation the Knicks ran last summer with Brogdon, Mathews and Shamet.
There's a catch, though. New York is expected to start the season carrying only 14 players thanks to their proximity to the second apron. So even with two standard openings, both spots filling is no lock, and final calls likely come down to the wire after preseason wraps. There's more than a month until the title defense tips off.
The Fantasy Angle
For roto and category managers, the immediate winner here is Drummond. He's our #188 overall (#36 among centers) after a 21.6 fantasy points-per-game 2025-26, and he's been trending up — plus-10.6 fantasy points over his last five last season. As long as he's the only reliable body behind KAT, the boards and blocks are his floor, and any Towns absence turns him into a streaming target.
Konchar is a deep-league steals-and-boards flier (our #230 overall, 18.7 fantasy points per game in 2025-26) but he needs minutes he may not get. Eubanks is off standard-league radars entirely. Bottom line: hold Drummond in deeper formats, monitor the camp battle, and don't rush to stash either newcomer until a contract — and a rotation role — actually exists.
