Locked-in role and March surge make him a steady upside bench stash.

Key numbers
  • Five-year, $110M extension signed Saturday
  • $22M AAV, ~11% of projected cap
  • 13.8 ppg, 5.1 reb, 3.7 ast in 2025-26
  • 27.8 fantasy pts/game last season (2025-26)
  • Played all 82 games — one of 18 to do so

Golden State didn't want a repeat of the Jonathan Kuminga saga, so they got out ahead of it. On Saturday morning, nine days before the NBA's rookie extension deadline, Brandin Podziemski and the Warriors agreed to a five-year, $110 million deal — fully guaranteed, with a trade kicker and a mutual option on 2031-32, per the reporting. No restricted free agency, no drama.

The money fits the production. Podziemski averaged 13.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists in his third year (2025-26), all while playing every single one of the Warriors' 82 games — one of only 18 players league-wide to do that. His $22 million average annual value mirrors Peyton Watson's deal and lands just under Ayo Dosunmu's five-year, $112 million contract.

Context matters for the 2023 draft class. Victor Wembanyama ($255.2M), Amen Thompson ($208M), Ausar Thompson ($155M) and Keyonte George ($155M) all cleared nine figures this offseason. Podziemski was never reaching that tier at pick No. 19, but nobody should blink at him landing in nine figures given what he's shown.

The Case for Growth

The late-season tape is the real sell. From March 1 through the end of the regular season, Podziemski averaged 18.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists on 47.5% shooting and 39.7% from three across 22 games — often drawing the opponent's top perimeter defender. He backed it up in the play-in, posting 17 and seven against the Clippers, then a team-high 23 points and 10 boards in Phoenix two nights later.

He's also a quietly valuable glue guy. Podziemski ranks among the league's best rebounding guards, finishes top-three in charges drawn every year, and owns the Warriors' second-highest cumulative plus/minus over the past three seasons. Among his draft class he's fourth in win shares (13.4) and fifth in VORP (3.4). He remains the youngest player on Golden State's 15-man roster entering Year 4.

The Fantasy Takeaway

On our model, Podziemski checks in at #115 overall (#55 at guard) after a 27.8 fantasy points per game actual last season (2025-26) — solid, not special, but trending up. The ceiling hinges on usage: when Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler sat, Podziemski's scoring jumped by roughly five a night. With his role now contractually cemented, he's a HOLD and a sneaky late-round target in deeper leagues. Don't reach for him on draft day, but if he opens the season near those March numbers, he's a buy before everyone else catches on.
